MAKING CHRIST-LIKE DISCIPLES

MAKING CHRIST-LIKE DISCIPLES

MAKING CHRIST-LIKE DISCIPLES

God’s Creation Mandate

In the very beginning of Genesis God says, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” He says, “Every plant that I make has the ability to throw of seeds and multiply. Every animal has the ability to reproduce after its own kind, and man and woman are also supposed to do the same thing.” God’s intent, in his creation mandate was to fill the earth with his glory through his image bearers. That’s his intent. As a result of rebellion God sent his son to be the perfect image bearer, the image of God in physical
form.

And now we his body, the church, are sent by Jesus to be recreated image bearers who display the glory of God to the ends of the earth, so that the earth would be filled with the glory of the Lord. That’s our call, and that requires reproduction (Jeff Vanderstelt).

MAKE DISCIPLES: THE BASIC PRINCIPLES Paul’s cry, practice, and expectation – Gal 4:19 – UNTIL CHRIST BE FORMED IN YOU –

1 Cor 11:1; 2 Cor 13:17-18; 2 Cor 11:1-2;
Christ-likeness is the ultimate – Eph 4:11-14. His approaches include:

  1. Prayer
  2.  Teaching the Core message of the Cross – 1 Cor 15:3-5.
  3. Defending the TRUTH with jealousy against false teachers and doctrines:

2 Corinthians: 11:1-2.
“I hope you will put up with me in a little foolishness. Yes, please put up with me! I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him (undefiled)”. cf Eph 5:25-27.
